Zahra Shakeri

Dr. Zahra Shakeri is an Assistant Professor of Health Informatics and Information Visualization and the director of the HIVE Lab at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Calgary and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Gehlenborg Lab in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Shakeri's research interests are focused on health informatics, health data science, information visualization, precision (public) health, digital health, social media analysis, natural language processing (NLP), and artificial intelligence (AI). Her work aims to leverage data and technology to improve health outcomes and patient care, with a particular emphasis on developing innovative approaches for analyzing and visualizing health data using NLP and AI techniques.
