Benita Hosseini
Dr. Banafshe (Benita) Hosseini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, and a Research Scientist at the Upstream Lab, MAP/Centre for Urban Health Solutions, Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. Dr. Hosseini's research focuses on nutritional approaches to managing respiratory diseases, including exploring the association between food insecurity, malnutrition, and the severity of acute respiratory infections, and investigating therapies for manipulating the Gut-Lung axis in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She is actively involved in the CanTreatCOVID research group, contributing to the nationwide adaptive platform trial designed to identify effective and affordable medications for COVID-19 so they can be made readily available in community settings.
