Dipto Das is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. He holds a PhD and an MS in Information Science from the University of Colorado Boulder, an MS in Computer Science from Missouri State University, and a BScEngg in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

His research lies at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Social Computing, Algorithmic Fairness and Bias, and Human-Centered AI. He examines how people engage in discourse around social, political, cultural, and emerging issues through online communities; how algorithmic systems—such as language models—influence user experience across diverse contexts; and how ethics and fairness can be conceptualized across different languages, sociopolitical values, cultural practices, and historically marginalized communities. His work spans domains including content moderation, government services, immigration, higher education, and public health.

His research has been published at prestigious HCI venues such as ACM CHI, CSCW, and ICTD, recognized with Best Paper Honorable Mentions, and featured in prominent media outlets.
