Étienne Gaudette
Dr. Étienne Gaudette is a Senior Economist at the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board’s National Prescription Drug Utilization Information System Research Initiative and an Assistant Professor (Status) at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. His research interests include health economics, access to care, pharmaceutical pricing policy, cost-effectiveness analysis, microsimulation methods, and drug shortages.
His work on pandemics includes published research on the resiliency of Canada’s access to drugs during the first months of the Covid-19 pandemic and the causes and impact of changes in insurance claiming patterns during the first two years of the pandemic. Dr. Gaudette’s continued research in this area aims to assess the strength of Canada’s access to drugs, the factors contributing to drug shortages and other access issues, and the policies which may promote further resiliency for the Canadian drug ecosystem.
His research has been featured in health economics journals such as PharmacoEconomics and Value in Health, as well as medical journals such as CMAJ, Medical Care and JAMA Network Open.
