Haibo Zhang

Dr. Zhang is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Physiology at the University of Toronto. He is also a Staff Scientist in the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science at St. Michael’s Hospital. His research program focuses on translational research in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which includes infectious lung diseases such as COVID-19, sepsis, and lung bioengineering. Dr. Zhang has an extensive publication record with over 250 peer-reviewed articles. He has been successful in securing significant research grants and has received several research awards, including the Premier’s Research Excellence Award (Ontario) and the New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). In recognition of his contributions, he has been honored as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Science. Dr. Zhang has actively contributed to the scientific community and has served on the Standing Committee of the Critical Care Assembly at the American Thoracic Society. He has also held the position of Associate Editor for Intensive Care Medicine, an official journal of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. Currently, Dr. Zhang is involved in the Implementation Committee of the Emerging & Pandemic Infections Consortium (EPIC) at the University of Toronto.
