Hani Naguib

Dr. Hani E. Naguib is a Professor at the University of Toronto, and the founding director of the Toronto Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and the Smart Materials and Structures Group. His major expertise is in smart and programmable materials and systems including stimuli responsive materials, nanomaterials and biomaterials. His research group focus on the development of hierarchical manufacturing technologies including: self assembly, micro and nanofabrication, and additive manufacturing techniques for flexible electronics: soft robotics, sensors, energy devices and adaptive structures: low carbon footprint materials and technologies. Naguib is the recipient of many honors and awards such as the Canada Research Chair and the Premier’s Early Research Award of Ontario. He is a Professional Engineer in Canada, a Chartered Engineer in U.K. Naguib is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining IOM3, Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry, Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME, Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics SPIE, Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers SPE. He is the associate editor for the journal of Smart Materials and Structures, and the journal of Intelligent Materials Systems and Structures and SPE Polymers.  Naguib is actively involved in collaborative research projects with academic institutions, hospitals and industrial partners in Canada and worldwide.
